A remarkable number of species have been spotted in or in around Cambridge Riverside.

Merlin - photo Dewar Donnithorne-Tait
The list below was compiled by Barry Tennison in his own chosen format:
Pests:
Wood pigeon
Carrion crow
Starling - SG thinks they’re cute, my London background knows them as squabbling, flocking pests - but beautiful in the wheeling flocks we don’t get round here
Semi-pests:
Blackbird - they just love digging compost out of our pots and flinging it around the balcony; redeemed by their beautiful singing
Wren - lovely little birds, but can make an alarming racket, amazing for their size
Stars:
Goldfinch - several pairs nesting in Infinity Garden and delighting us all
Greenfinch - frequent visitors to our balcony
Chaffinch - delightful pair visit us for food
Song thrush - so good to see them here
Swift - seen only in the sky
Common folk (all, I think, nesting in the long hedge):
Robin
Great tit
Blue tit
House sparrow
Dunnock
Seen from balcony, not inside CRMC:
Mallard
Swan
Moorhen (none actually seen from our balcony!)
Cormorant (several live along the river, and show up in the sky)
Heron (similarly)
Black headed gull
Lesser black backed gull
Herring gull
Tern (I think Common Tern, seen occasionally - lovely sight)
Buzzard (high, distant, soaring)
